    林茂賢 1960 年生於宜蘭縣羅東鎮、,是臺灣有名的民俗學者,從小在廟會與歌仔戲的薰陶下成長,接觸台灣傳統戲曲、,投入台灣民俗文化、 傳統戲曲、 俗語歌謠研究三十餘年。所以對他而言,台灣的傳統民俗文化有著獨特的親切感。

    其對臺灣民俗故事的研究與投入，讓他被學生戲稱為林府千歲茂賢公，著有《大廟埕》、《戲棚腳》、《台灣民俗記事》、《福爾摩沙之美——台灣傳統戲劇風華》、《台灣傳統戲曲》、《歌仔戲表演型態研究》等書。

    Born in 1960 in Luodong Township, Yilan County, LIN Mao-sian is a renowned Taiwanese folklorist. Growing up immersed in temple fairs and Taiwanese opera, he developed a deep connection with Taiwan’s traditional performing arts. He has dedicated over thirty years to the study of Taiwanese folk culture, traditional opera, and folk songs, making Taiwanese traditional folk culture uniquely familiar and endearing to him.

    Due to his extensive research and dedication to Taiwanese folk stories, his students affectionately nickname him “Linfu Qiansui Maoxian Gong” (林府千歲茂賢公). He has authored several books, including“Da Miao Cheng (The Grand Temple Courtyard《大廟埕》)”, “Xi Peng Jiao (Under the Opera Stage《戲棚腳》)” “Notes on Taiwanese Folklore”(《台灣民俗記事》), “The Beauty of Formosa: The Splendor of Taiwanese Traditional Drama”(《福爾摩沙之美——台灣傳統戲劇風華》), “Taiwanese Traditional Opera”(《台灣傳統戲曲》), and “A Study of the Performance Styles of Taiwanese Opera”(《歌仔戲表演型態研究》).
