屏東迎王平安祭典歷史悠久，科儀程序、籌辦過程皆由地方民眾自發參與，深入影響在地生活作息，反映沿海民眾的生活特色，亦是王爺信仰本土化的展現。發展迄今，東港、南州、小琉球亦衍生出自己的科儀活動。其中「東港迎王平安祭典」已於2011年正式列為台灣重要的國家無形文化資產。
爲推動國際學術文化交流，促進地方信仰文化互鑒，屏東縣政府將於2024年9月15日(日)於屏東縣王船文化館舉辦「2024屏東迎王平安祭典國際論壇」活動，邀請國際與台灣和東港迎王無形文化資產相關的專家學者，前來分享各國重要的無形文化資產保存經驗。
The Pingtung Ying Wang Ceremony has a long history. Its rituals and organization are spontaneously participated in by local residents, deeply influencing their daily lives and reflecting the unique lifestyle of coastal communities. It also showcases the localization of the Wangyeh belief. Over time, Donggang, Nanzhou, and Xiaoliuqiu have developed their own ritual activities. Among these, the "Donggang Ying Wang Ceremony" was officially designated as an important national intangible cultural heritage of Taiwan in 2011.
To promote international academic and cultural exchange and enhance mutual understanding of local belief cultures, the Pingtung County Government will hold the "2024 International Forum of Pingtung Ying Wang Ceremony" on Sunday, September 15, 2024, at the Pingtung King Boat Museum in Pingtung County. The event will invite international and Taiwanese experts and scholars related to the intangible cultural heritage of the Donggang Welcoming Wangyeh Festival to share their experiences in preserving significant intangible cultural heritage from various countries.
